Thank you for supporting your child in their decision to work at Calaway Park. Calaway Park offers a challenging and varied work environment. We believe we can make a positive difference in the lives of our Team Members by encouraging growth and teaching valuable skills. As a leadership team, we take the development of our Team Members seriously. We believe young people need to take responsibility for their choices and decisions -- it is critical to their success in the work environment. We ask that any time a Team Member has a concern or question with something that is work-related, you encourage them to deal directly with their Department Leaders. We want the communication to be open, honest, and direct between the Team Members and the leadership team. We feel that by encouraging your child to communicate directly with the Department Lead, that they will strengthen their interpersonal skills and increase employability skills for the rest of their life.

It is important for you to know that we have high expectations of all of our Team Members. When it comes to reliability and responsibility, we expect a 100% commitment to the job. Team Members are expected to meet all of their scheduled shifts and be on time. Missing a shift without contacting us first, will result in termination of employment. As a company, we have only 100 days of operation per season, and everyday, our guests are counting on us to deliver the great service we promise them. We can only do this if we have a strong team of committed Team Members. Fortunately, we find that most of our Team Members take pride in doing their best at work, and this has a big impact on the experience our guests and all Team Members have while here.

Bus Transportation

Calaway Park provides free bus transportation to Team Members from various locations in the city of Calgary. This service is chartered through Southland Transportation. We work very closely with Southland Transportation to make the bus program work effectively. There may be times when things do not go as planned. If the bus has not arrived on time, team members are advised to stay at the stop and call Calaway Park at 403-240-3822. We can then contact Southland Transportation to find out the status of the bus. Please be aware that if a bus is late arriving and therefore Calaway Park team members are late for their shift, they will still be paid from their scheduled start time

Inclement Weather

As you can imagine, bad weather has a big impact on our business. There may be days when we decide to close the park early, or days that we do not open at all. In the event of inclement weather, our procedures are as follows:
  1. The decision to open or close is made by the Park Manager at 9:00 am.
  2. If the decision is made to close the park, Department Leads will call all Team Members scheduled to work that day. The Team Members website will also be updated to communicate this.
  3. If the park will not be opening, Southland Transportation will be contacted and the drivers will go to all the stops to advise the Team Members that the park is not opening. Those buses will not bring anyone to the park
  4. Team Members that arrive at the park, either by bus or driving themselves, will be offered 3 or more hours of work doing cleaning and stocking of locations.
  5. If a Team Member is unsure as to whether or not they should come to work, they can contact Guest Services at 403-240-3822 to find out if the park is opening or not.
As a general rule, the only time the park will not open is when the forecast is for poor weather for the entire day. When the forecast is for changing weather, we will open and may make the decision to close early. In those cases, buses will be called to come for earlier pick-ups from the park.


Schedules are posted three weeks in advance in the Team Lounge as well as on the Team Member website. This allows for Team Members to plan extracurricular activities in advance. Therefore, any Time Off Requests must be submitted at least three weeks in advance. We understand that sometimes an unexpected event may come up that is less than three weeks away. If the Team Member is already scheduled to work on a day that they would like to have off, they must find another Team Member to take their scheduled shift, and complete a Change of Shift form.

Calaway Park Operating Season

Calaway Park operates on a seasonal basis. Our official opening day is Saturday, May 22, 2021, and in May and June, we are open on Saturdays, Sundays, and Holiday Mondays. In July and August, the park is open daily. In September and October, we are open on Saturdays, Sundays and Holiday Mondays, with the last day of operation being October 11, 2021.

When we hire our 2021 team, we hire them for the entire season, and are counting on them to stay with us until the end of our season. Often in the fall, Team Members have other school and extracurricular commitments. If that is the case for your child, please have them come and see us. We can work with them to create a schedule that will work best for them in the fall, while giving them the opportunity to see their commitment through to the end.

Team Events

Calaway Park hosts a number of team events throughout the season. We encourage all Team Members to attend the team events. They are a great opportunity to make friends and have fun! All events are supervised by our management, supervisory and seasonal leadership team.
